ON-LINE TICKETS AND BOOKINGS CONDITIONS

General

1. Tickets are issued subject to the rules and regulations of South Devon Railway Trust, (SDRT or the Trust) full details of which are available on request.

2.1 Tickets purchased on line produce a voucher which may be printed, or a bar code which may be displayed on a mobile device. One of these must be produced at either the Buckfastleigh or Totnes (Littlehempston) booking offices and exchanged for a ticket to travel (without further charge) before boarding the train.

2.2 Please check your booking as mistakes cannot always be rectified.

3. It is the responsibility of the booking holder to ascertain if a service has been cancelled or rescheduled. If a service has been cancelled or rescheduled, the Trust will use reasonable endeavours to notify booking holders of the cancellation. Please note that it cannot be guaranteed that all or any booking holders will be notified of such cancellation or alteration before the original date and time of travel.

4. The Trust reserves the right to refuse carriage should booking holders breach any rules and regulations of South Devon Railway Trust. The management may on occasions have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of its patrons, staff and volunteers.

5. Bookings may only be exchanged or refunded after purchase in accordance with the Trust’s cancellation policies which varies with each category of service offered as set out in paragraphs 5.0, 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3. Nothing in these conditions shall prevent SDRT from making a discretionary refund. The Trust cannot be held responsible for any tickets or booking confirmations which are lost or stolen. The Trust reserves the right to cancel without refund ticket bookings which it reasonably suspects have been achieved fraudulently.

5.0 General Travel Tickets

5.0.1 If SDRT are unable to fulfill a booking, then the booking holder will be offered either a refund, or a re-booking for a later date, subject to availability.

5.0.2 If the booking holder chooses to cancel the booking, then if a written (or e-mailed) cancellation is received at least the day before the date of the train concerned a 100% refund will apply, less an administration fee of £5.00. If the booking is cancelled less than the day before the booking, no refund will apply.

5.0.3 If the appropriate train runs, if the booking holder is prevented e.g by weather or traffic conditions, from travelling, then no refund will apply. SDRT may offer an alternative time and date, subject to availability, and may at its sole discretion adjust a fare accordingly.

5.1.1 If SDRT are unable to fulfill a booking, then the booking holder will be offered either a refund, or a re-booking for a later date, subject to availability.

5.1.2 If the booking holder chooses to cancel the booking, then if the cancellation is made four weeks before the date of the booking a 100% refund will apply less an administration fee of £5.00. If the cancellation is made between four weeks and seven days before the date of the booking a 50% refund will apply with no deduction of  any administration fee. If the booking is cancelled less than seven days before the booking, no refund will apply, unless SDRT are able to resell the space so made available, in which case an administration fee of £5.00 will apply.
5.1.3 If SDRT are able to resell the space so made available, a full refund will apply less an administration fee of £5.00.

5.2.1 If SDRT are unable to fulfill the booking, then the booking holder will be offered either a refund, or may accept an alternative time and date, subject to availability, and SDRT may at its discretion adjust a fare accordingly.

5.2.2 If the booking holder chooses to cancel the booking, then if a written (or e-mailed) cancellation is received at least four clear days before the date of the train concerned a 100% refund will apply, less an administration fee of £5.00. If the booking is cancelled less than four clear days before the booking, no refund will apply.

5.2.3 If the appropriate train runs, if the booking holder is prevented e.g by weather or traffic conditions, from travelling, then no refund will apply. SDRT may offer an alternative time and date, subject to availability, and may at its sole discretion adjust a fare accordingly.

5.2.4 In all cases, if SDRT are able to resell the space so made available, a full refund will apply less an administration fee of £5.00.

5.3 Devonshire Pullman Dining Trains

5.3.1 If SDRT are unable to fulfill the booking, then the booking holder will be offered either a refund, or a re-booking for a later date, subject to availability.

5.3.2 If the appropriate train runs, even though the booking holder is prevented from travelling e.g by weather or traffic conditions, then no refund will apply.

5.3.3 If the booking holder chooses to cancel all or part of their party, then the refund availability will depend on the number of places cancelled.

5.3.3.1 For groups of up to 6 people, a 100% refund will apply if a written (or e-mailed) cancellation is received by noon, seven days before the train less an administration fee of £5.00 per place cancelled.
If the written (or e-mailed) cancellation is received between noon seven days before the train and noon two days before the train i.e. by noon on Wednesday for a Friday evening train that week, then a 50% refund will apply with no deduction of any administration fee.
Any cancellation after noon two days before the date of the train will not receive a refund.

5.3.3.2 For groups of between 7 and 24 people inclusive a 100% refund will apply if a written (or e-mailed) cancellation is received by noon, four weeks before the train less an administration fee of £5.00 per place cancelled.
If the written (or e-mailed) cancellation is received after noon four weeks before the train the Trust will offer the places for re-sale to the public and the refund will consist of the full price of as many seats as may be resold for that train less an administration fee of £5.00 per place. In that case any exclusive use of one or more coaches, or a part of a coach by the remainder (if any) of the party will be foregone.

5.3.3.3 For groups of greater than 24 people inclusive a 100% refund will apply if a written (or e-mailed) cancellation is received by noon, eight weeks before the train less an administration fee of £5.00 per place cancelled.
If the written (or e-mailed) cancellation is received after noon eight weeks before the train the Trust will offer the places for re-sale to the public and a refund will consist of the full price of as many seats as may be resold for that train less an administration fee of £5.00 per place. In that case any exclusive use of one or more coaches, or a part of a coach by the remainder (if any) of the party will be foregone.

5.3.4 Any postponement of a booking by a customer will be treated as a cancellation and a re-booking.

General

6. If this booking is re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other than the South Devon Railway Trust or Online Ticketing Ltd, it may be voided and the holder refused travel.

7. The Trust operates a non smoking policy on all of its trains, station platforms and all of its buildings.
